The dental missionsIn 2015, after a conversation with his New York dentist Dr Jonathan B. Levine, Kravitz's Let Love Rule Foundation partnered with Levine's GLO Good Foundation to run an annual free clinic in Gregory Town. They have now completed eight missions on this island.
What a mission actually isAround a hundred volunteers, a clinic standing for seven days, free dentistry and primary medical care for hundreds of adults and children from across Eleuthera. Not a photo call — a working clinic, annually, for a decade.
He is in the roomReporting from the missions has him greeting people as they arrive, sitting with a woman having work done and holding her hand, and at the bedside of a child during treatment. On the record about the work: “We are born to serve each other.”
Why it counts hereFree dental care is not a small thing on a Family Island. The nearest specialists were a flight away for most of these patients, and his cousin — the woman who brought him to this settlement — was the nurse who would have known exactly what that costs a community.
